Ajax Quartet

String Quartet, 2018

Founded in September 2016, Ajax Quartet is an emerging string quartet comprised of violinists Tom Yaron and Renée Hemsing Patten, violist Mario Rivera, and cellist Eric Haugen. Only months after its founding Ajax was selected by the Grammy award-winning Takacs Quartet for the prestigious Graduate Quartet-In-Residence position at the University of Colorado. Ajax shares a relationship with the Aspen Music Festival and School, where they serve as Musical Connections Resident Artists throughout the year. In Spring of 2018, Ajax won the silver medal prize at the Coltman National Chamber Music Competition in Austin, Texas, and were finalists at the Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition in Easton, Maryland and quarterfinalists at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana. Tour highlights from the 2018-19 season include a program at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and a Carnegie Hall debut.
