Applications are accepted from composers, performers, pre-formed ensembles, and composer/performers. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Fresh Inc is open to all instruments and to artists from any musical tradition, whether enrolled in a degree program or pursuing their craft independently.
FIF is thrilled to partner with Chicago Opera Theater (COT) in providing some additional opportunities for our composition applicants. Composers wishing to have a work for solo operatic voice considered for future performance as winner of the Fresh Inc / COT Aria Competition should submit additional scores/recordings of works for voice and 1-3 instruments (including piano). Also in partnership with COT, Fresh Inc composers are invited to submit an application for COT’s Theme Song Competition. Composers with an interest in education may also be considered for future engagement via COT’s Opera for All educational initiative as guest composers.
All applicants are considered for merit-based scholarships as part of the application process. This year, our Fresh Voices program offers dedicated scholarship support to participants who are female, artists of color, and/or LGBTQ-identified, to build leadership capacity, career advancement, and entrepreneurial skills among artists underrepresented in our field.
Opportunities to audit the festival are also available. Please contact us for details.
All application materials must be submitted by February 1, 2020.
