Jesse Limbacher

Composer, 2012

Jesse Limbacher is an award-winning composer of lyrical, energetic acoustic music that draws upon influences from an eclectic and ever-changing variety of sources. In 2011 his work for solo violin, Inscape, was awarded an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award. Highlights of the 2011-2012 concert season included the premieres of Dig for sextet at the Ravinia Festival and Wanderings for chamber orchestra performed by conductor Steven Smith and the Grammy Award winning Cleveland Chamber Symphony. In 2010 Jesse received a scholarship to study at California Summer Music with David Tcimpidis, and recently attended the inaugural Fresh Inc Festival. At Fresh Inc, Jesse’s music was performed by Chicago’s Fifth House Ensemble and Ann Arbor’s Latitude 49. There, he also studied composition with David Rakowski and Stacy Garrop. He has presented his music in masterclasses for composers Steven Stucky, Augusta Read Thomas, Derek Bermel, Fang Man and Eugene O’Brien. When not composing, Jesse is a founding member and guitarist of the Cleveland based Contranuities Quartet: a poly-stylistic improvisational ensemble. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in composition at the Cleveland Institute of Music where he is a student of Keith Fitch. In addition to musical pursuits, he has a fierce passion for vegetarian cooking and fine spirits.
