Becky Turro is a composer, pianist, and teacher whose life and music are heavily nature-inspired. Having grown up in the Appalachian area of northern New Jersey, her pieces are often drawn to the natural world.
Turro received her BM in Composition at Rutgers University, studying under Robert Aldridge. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Composition at Ithaca College, studying under Jorge Grossmann and Evis Sammoutis.
She has collaborated in four dance works, one of which was with the New York City-based dance company, the Kinesis Project. She also participated in the New York Musical Festival’s songwriting workshop, the Connecticut Summerfest, and the 2020 Fresh Inc Festival. She has had her music performed across the country by ensembles such as the Akropolis Reed Quintet and Ma’at Quartet.
