Ben Palmateer is an avid explorer, musically and otherwise, and has decided to dedicate his life to finding unfamiliarity within the ordinary. Originally from Saratoga Springs, New York, his teenage exploration of genres such as rock and rap led to an intense passion for music, which was furthered at Binghamton University when he dropped his Chemistry degree to pursue music composition full time. After further musical tinkering and exposure to the work of composers like Julia Wolfe and George Crumb, Palmateer decided to continue his study in the MM Composition program at Binghamton, which is a testament to his inexplicable love for Upstate New York. To credit all of those who have influenced him would be impossible, but he is enamored with the works of folks like El-P, Danny Brown, Rihanna, Christopher Theofanidis, Imogen Heap, Courtney Love, Flatbush Zombies, Billy Joel, and many others. He is so grateful for the opportunities he has received thus far, and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
