Composition alum awarded Fire Island Residency, releases new single with fellow alumni

Dan Langa (’17) was awarded residency at Fire Island National Park, starting in May 2021. “For the residency I will be creating an electroacoustic work for the park using field recordings I will take during my stay at Watch Hill in the spring. My goal with the project is to explore to relationship between man–made, developed parts of this ecosystem and natural elements of the park. This duality is one of the unique parts of Fire Island.”

Langa recently released single “Swell” featuring Sam Johnson (’17) on cello with album artwork designed by Mimi Harding (’17, flute). The single is available on Bandcamp, Spotify as well as other platforms

In spring of 2021, Langa will be digitally premiering his master’s recital titled After Nothing Comes based on a graphic novel of the same title by Aidan Koch, also featuring Johnson on cello.
