New Jersey native and current Chicago community member, clarinetist Jessica Smith is completing her Master’s degree at DePaul University. Ms. Smith has been a competition winner with the Rowan University Symphonic Orchestra, the Northern Lights Music Festival Orchestra and the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey. She has held the woodwind fellowship at Bowdoin International Music Festival in 2012, and has been a featured soloist on numerous occasions with the Rowan University Wind Ensemble. Most recently, Ms. Smith was awarded second place in the National Society of Arts and Letters Central Illinois Competition. Currently, Ms. Smith can be found working on her most recent project and promoting wind music with the Chicago Symphonic Winds.
Ms. Smith’s primary instructors include Rié Suzuki, Julie DeRoche and Larry Combs. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was awarded the W. Clark Pfleeger Medallion for Musical Excellence with her Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from Rowan University.
