Kaitlin is an up and coming hornist in the Southwest Michigan area as a soloist, chamber musician, clinician, and educator. While in Michigan, she has programmed numerous recitals demonstrating her technique, artistry, and love of the horn. In 2018, she participated in concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in Kalamazoo, Napanee, Chicago, Milwaukee, Kenosha, and Racine. In 2016, Mrs. Hosey was named First Place Winner of the International Horn Society Mid-North Horn Workshop: Solo Horn Competition that was held at Ball State University.
Being the horn player and co-founder of The Siren Winds, an all-female woodwind quartet in Southwest Michigan, she has traveled all over the state of Michigan and Indiana programming chamber recitals and educational outreaches. Kaitlin is a regular sub at the Holland Symphony Orchestra and has also had the privilege of performing with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, and the Citadel Music Academy Pit Orchestra. With symphony playing, she enjoys playing horn in musicals like Les Miserables, Into the Woods, Show Boat, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot, and Westside Story with various groups.
To accompany her performance career, Katy has formed and managed Hosey Horn Studio. HHS is a private studio catering to the needs of middle to high school horn players that have an eagerness to solidify horn basics and expand their world of music outside of their band program. Hosey’s students are among the top in their schools and the state. Outside of band clinics and Horn Days, Katy’s students have performed in Europe, Africa, and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan and have recently been accepted into Interlochen’s six-week summer with a full tuition scholarship and a free one-week horn intensive camp.
