Karalyn Schubring (b. 1999) is a dedicated composer, pianist, teacher, and improviser whose work centers around inspiring others to engage imaginatively with music. Since beginning her piano and composition studies at a young age, her music has gained national attention, garnering awards from organizations such as the American Composers Forum (ACF), the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), YoungArts, and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). In addition to being invited to perform her piece for piano and euphonium on National Public Radio’s “From the Top” program, Karalyn has been commissioned to write music for the award-winning East Valley Children’s Theater. Karalyn is currently earning her Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition from the University of Michigan, where she has studied piano with Dr. Matthew Bengtson and composition with Dr. Kristin Kuster.
