Originally from Orlando, Florida, Kyle Walcott is a violinist and music theory major at Northwestern University. At Northwestern, he is revitalizing the Music Learning Community, an outreach organization that provides unique musical opportunities for the general student body.
A long-term goal is to create a new audience for contemporary music by developing cultural infrastructure in America to be more supportive of performers, audiences, and their artistic goals. Ideally, this means connecting with children and the science-oriented, writing a simple method book with an emphasis on non-traditional styles, and making recommendations for how to prioritize non-tonal music in music education.
His specific interests in music are growing everyday, but right now the list is: microtones/temperament, math-based composition, serial procedures, and spectralism.
Outside of music, he has a super cute golden retriever chow-chow mix. He also enjoys anything physical, especially running.
