Laura Conti is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator who is dedicated to the academic and musical growth of young children. She also enjoys composing and arranging music. Her music has been performed by various ensembles such as Fifth House Ensemble, Yarn/Wire, Momenta Quartet, Hub New Music, as well as many other musical friends from UAlbany.
Laura was born and raised on Long Island, NY and now resides in Mechanicville, NY. She attended UAlbany to major in Music and minor in Educational Studies. While there, she studied Music Composition with Max Lifchitz and Alban Zak. Laura also enjoyed performing in UAlbany’s Concert Band, Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band where she sang in the Alto section in Chamber Singers and played Baritone Saxophone in the bands.
She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in 2019 and became a Masters Music Composition student at Binghamton University and studied with Dr. Daniel Thomas Davis and Wally Gunn where she was able to get a hands-on learning experience by working with various visiting ensembles in creating and premiering new works. During the pandemic, Laura used her time to start tutoring young and eager music students on various instruments including piano over Zoom and Google Duo.
When she’s not creating new works, Laura enjoys playing video games, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys spending even more time with her dog, Minnie.
