Matthew Lorenz

Matthew Lorenz is currently a third-year student at the University of North Dakota, studying piano performance with Dr. Nariaki Sugiura as well as performing on the cello in the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra. Beginning piano lessons at the age of 9 with Susan Nagel, Matthew was a performer throughout high school in Fargo, North Dakota and won several local and state competitions, performing pieces by Rachmaninov, Ravel, Bach, and Prokofiev. Now studying in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Matthew has performed regularly in front of public audiences and at competition and has continued his focus on new music performance and composition. Having recently won the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Matthew will be making his debut as a soloist in April, performing “Totentanz” by Franz Liszt.
