Megan Anderson is a recent graduate of Michigan State University with a major in Composition and a minor in Arts & Cultural Management. As a composer, it is Megan’s goal to write more quality educational repertoire for younger bands. However, she also writes for solo winds and chamber ensembles. In 2018, Megan was one of the winners of the Jere Hutcheson Competition for Large Ensemble, which gave her the opportunity to write for the Michigan State University Campus Band. Some of her more successful pieces include After Your Dreams for English horn and string quartet, Into the Abyss for Grade 3 band, and Three Miniatures for woodwind quintet and piano, which was written for and premiered at the 2019 Fresh Inc Festival. Megan has studied with Dr. Ricardo Lorenz, Dr. David Biedenbender and Dr. Alexis Bacon.
Megan recently got a job in arts management at the International School of Music in Bethesda, Maryland. In her position of Program Coordinator, she works in the office scheduling lessons for students and answering any questions they and their parents have. So far, Megan really enjoys this position because she gets to witness these kids’ discovery of concert music and the passion they develop for it.
