Patrick Walker

Drawing on varied classical and folk influences Patrick Walker’s music remains strongly rooted in tradition while also exploring the boundaries of what it means to make music in the 21st century. His works are accessible, and emotionally powerful while also being fresh and contemporary. Patrick recently received a commission from the Juventas New Music Ensemble and since 2013 he has been performed by the Vassar Mahagonny ensemble, the Cygnus Trio and others. His Symphony no. 1 won the Jean Slater Edson prize in 2015. Patrick received his BA in Music from Vassar College in 2015 where he studied composition with Richard Wilson and Jonathan Chenette. He has also studied privately with Daron Hagenand is currently pursuing his MM in Composition at Boston University where he is studying with Richard Cornell.
