Yuan-ju Liu

Praised for her natural musical instincts and captivating energies in various forms of performance, Ms. Liu has been active in premiering original poetry-song, programming small-house chamber gatherings, participating in film music ensembles, and leading the orchestras. 

Appearing on “LIVE FROM WFMT” as part of the Chicago-based Juliani Ensemble, Ms. Liu is dedicated to performing chamber music in its most original form, sharing music, and performing for smaller audiences in intimate venues for a more personal impact. In addition, her chamber music engagements include volunteering for community engagements at Sisters of Mercy and public performances at the University of Rochester Medical Centre Thursday Performing Arts and Culture Series 2017 in Rochester, NY. 

In addition to more traditional genres, Ms. Liu is active in performing contemporary music. As a fellowship participant of the Fresh Inc Festival in 2020, she premiered and performed three new works of chamber music from emerging composers under the mentorship of the Fifth House Ensemble. Further, as a member of 5th Wave collective in Chicago, she is passionate about performance and promotion of music by womxn composers. Appearing in a variety of concert venues such as the Uncommon Ground and Fulton Street Collective, she collaborated with Whitney Bradshaw and contemporary female composers Jessica Meyer, Jesse Montgomery and Augusta Read Thomas. 

Ms. Yuanju recently earned her Masters degree with distinction from DePaul University under the tutelage of Janet Sung, and graduated from the Eastman School of Music for her Bachelor in Music Degree under the mentorships of Robin Scott and Ayano Ninomiya.
